As online competitive multiplayer gaming has become more and more streamlined, developers have added a number of user interactive abilities as a way for players to express themselves. The most common of which being dance animations. Games like Fortnite, Destiny, and even Uncharted 4 feature dance animations as a way of non-verbally expressing oneself during gameplay. However, in the case of Halo Infinite, dancing won’t be featured at all during multiplayer gameplay.

In a recent IGN interview with Jerry Hook, the head of design for Halo Infinite, it was revealed that dancing emotes would not be featured in Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass. According to Hook, many traditional players would likely feel it uncharacteristic of an iconic character such as the Master Chief or Spartan soldiers in general to be flossing or participating in whatever other common dance emote.
While this may be discouraging for some new players, this decision makes a lot of sense. Halo is the oldest Xbox franchise of all time and is revered by many in the gaming community. The Master Chief has gone through many evolutionary changes over the course of the last two decades, but has also remained a very serious character. To have him flossing or dancing in general would be atypical to say the least.
For many in the gaming community, the prospect of finally playing modernized, next-gen Halo game is certainly exciting. The last mainline Halo game to release in the past several years was Halo 5: Guardians. Though, sadly, there isn’t a PC port of Halo 5 and likely never will be. Thus, it’s good that Halo Infinite will release on a multitude of platforms in addition to next-gen systems.
It will be interesting to see what Halo Infinite will look like as a finished product. Many players have already had a chance to play through Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, but many details regarding the single player campaign have yet to be unveiled. Luckily, the game’s release date is rapidly approaching and it won’t be long until players will finally be able to sink their teeth into Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite releases December 8, 2021 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
