Multiple sources have previously stated that Halo 5: Guardians was not planned for a PC release. This led many to believe that the Halo franchise wouldn’t be making an appearance outside of the Xbox platform until Halo Infinite came along to bring the series to PC.
Phil Spencer was quoted at Build 2018 in regards to Halo 5 coming to PC:
Spencer’s comments led many to believe that Halo 5 wouldn’t end up launching on PC. However, his statement certainly left room for the Xbox team to change its mind and move Halo 5: Guardians to the ever-growing list of Play Anywhere games that fans can enjoy across both the Xbox and PC platform.
Halo 5: Guardians has so far dipped its toes into PC with the release of Halo 5: Forge. For those unaware, Forge is a free-to-play version of Halo 5’s multiplayer experience that left most Halo fans feeling stripped of the full game’s depth.
Halo 5: Guardians is currently available on Xbox One.
